A World Divided by Magic

Mages

Mages is the catch-all term used for any kind of magic user, whether they practice necromancy or healing magic. Many of them call themselves different titles, but all of them regarded as Mages. They are a people apart from the ordinary non-magical beings of the world. Their gifts have made them the dominant force in society throughout the ages, but their position does not come without resentment from the populace at large.

All magic is fuelled by the Energy a person naturally stores inside their body. People store varying amounts, although only Mages have the ability to use what they store. Many non-Mages contain staggering amounts inside them and would make powerful Mages if they only had the gift to use what was inside them.

Magic takes many forms. It can range from healing, to raising the dead, summoning beasts, controlling nature, weather manipulation and working the elements. All forms of magic are practiced and encouraged, except for three: The first is Necromancy, the magic of manipulating dead bodies and raising the dead as the undead (As opposed to life which is not forbidden). The second is Nigrimancy, the magic of manipulating and communicating with the spirits of the dead.

The final is the most forbidden, that of Blood Magic. Blood Magic is a brutal and powerful school of magic, drawing power from the blood of the living to boost the power of a Mage’s other abilities. It is a short-cut to power, but an effective one. A Mage works blood magic by taking the blood of others using an easily learned spell. It is a violent and horrific death for the victim, the blood ripped from them changed into pure Energy that is absorbed by the Blood Mage into their own body. This power can then be used to fuel a Mage’s magic to levels their body cannot normally contain. To fuel magic by the death of others is a grave crime, one punishable by the most excruciating of deaths.

There is a cost to the practice of magic beyond the expenditure of Energy, a cost that the Mages tried to keep hidden from the population at large. On the edge of reality, in a realm twisted and broken by wild magic, lurk entities that Mages have called ‘demons’. They seek to expand their realm to include all planes of reality. Whether there are other realms apart from their own and the realm of Mages exists is a secret only the demons know and they are not sharing.

The demons found that Mage’s souls flickered into their realm on occasion, especially when they slept. Seeing a chance to take more ground and gain power that might help tip the scale in the perpetual wars between the various Demon Kings and Queens in their desire to rule over their own kind, they began scratching at these soft spots created by dreaming and unwise Mages. Eventually, they managed to start breaking through and it was not long before they shattered the barrier between the realms, sweeping across the world and wiping out many. It was the end of the First Age of civilisation and only the intervention of the last few Mages who had not been lynched or killed by demons managed to prevent the total destruction of their realm.

After the end of the First Age and after the almost total destruction of the world itself, Mages became a hunted and hated people. Despite being instrumental in saving the world from the demonic hordes, they were still blamed for causing the problem in the first place. They hid themselves away, seeking refuge with either the Elves or other far-flung corners of the world. For the first time in history, the practice of magic slowed to almost nothing and Mages had no more power over people.

Centuries passed and memories grew dim. Mages began to be accepted once more and soon their dominance was re-established. The new Empire was founded that included all races throughout the world... except the Elves who are still able to maintain their independence thanks to the power of their own Mages. The Empire wish to conquer the fae, but have reluctantly agreed to a non-aggression pact as a war would devastate both sides and possibly create another disaster not seen since the end of the First Age.

Mana - The Capital of the Mage Empire

Nowadays, Mages tend to form an upper class. Even the weakest of their kind is treated like nobility, and the most powerful sit in the Imperial Palace as advisers and hangers on of the current Emperor or Empress (The most powerful Mage in the Empire).

Their skills are at a high point in the Imperial Age, even beyond what they achieved near the end of the First Age, but they are also more prepared for the demons on the edge of reality. The first thing all Mages are taught is how to shield their minds, to prevent them from softening the barriers between realms with their dreams. This is by no means foolproof, but breaches have become a rarity and so it is regarded as a success.

Elves

The Elves, or the fae, are an unusual race amongst all the many other races that exist in the world. Every single one of them are Mages from the day they are born. On average, their bodies store more Energy than other races and their discipline in the practice of magic is greater than other races, even the Empire.

During the First Age, the Elves were a cosmopolitan people who welcomed all races and were happy to teach them the ways of their magic. At the end of the First Age, that all changed. Seeing the recklessness of the other races, and the wave of demons sweeping across the world, the Elves erected a massive barrier around their kingdoms. The barrier kept the demons out, creating an oasis during an apocalypse that swept across the rest of the world.

After the end of the First Age, the Elves let the barrier drop to allow the remaining Mages to take refuge. Those who tried to take out their anger at Mages on the Elves were brutally rebuffed and eventually the fae were left to their own devices.

Time passed, and the Elves became largely isolated. The other Mages were ‘encouraged’ to leave the Elvish Kingdoms and eventually the only races living in fae territory were their own kind.

With the rise of the Empire, the Elves found themselves in a difficult position. Many of the refugees fleeing the expanding Empire sought refuge with what they regarded as the only place of safety. After much discussion amongst the ruling council, the refugees were eventually allowed to enter.

Ilessene - The Capital of the Elven Kingdoms

Nowadays, the Elvish Kingdoms have once again returned to their cosmopolitan roots and are currently the only land independent of the Mage Empire. They have signed a treaty and now live in an uneasy peace. It may not be long until that peace ends, but for now the Kingdoms and the Empire’s citizens are free to enter each other’s lands (with appropriate paperwork, of course).

In the dark of night, two hooded figures emerged, from the depths of a swirling mist. The sound of footfalls grew silent as they came upon an abandoned home; dilapidated by the decaying hands of time. There within the dwelling the two spoke in hushed tones. “You’re orders are simple” one of the hooded figures began. “You’re to travel to Silvholm…where you will investigate the Mernway bloodline on the behalf of the Empress. You will report back to her Empress on your findings and for the moment you are not to silence the target unless ordered” a gloved hand delved into the cloak, reaching for something, and then a scroll switched hands. “These are your documents into Silvholm….but after you pass the borders the Empress will not be able to assist you financially” the words rang out cruelly. “Any connection you might have will be severed until you reach Mana”

Once the meeting had been concluded only one hooded figure remained. Their hand encircled the scroll, crushing it within their palm.

Luke sat looking out the window of his humble studio. It was located quaintly off of the town square of Silvholm. The towns shops and cafe's were a bustle at this time of hour. It wasn't yet sunset but it was looming beautifully on the horizon. He couldn't help but envy those below his olive gaze. They were free to walk about while he was here waiting, it seemed endlessly, for his model to arrive. Either way Luke had to prepare and the time for day dreaming had come to an end.

She laid half slumped against the wall, hot sticky blood pooling between her legs. Crimson streams poured down from various other cuts and wounds covering her delicate adolescent form. The girl knew she should be dead, or at least unconscious, but her captor would not allow her the solace of oblivion.

"I have not fed so well in a long time," said the thing standing over her, watching her quivering nude form with his burning pitiless gaze. "I will enjoy consuming your flesh and soul slowly... So very slowly." His massive dark bulk crouched down, a claw as long as her own finger gently gliding down between her blossoming breasts. "I'll start with the skin." He laughed, his voice crackling like raging fire and his breath stinking of burning blood and brimstone. "Now..." He began to slowly slice the skin from her upper arm. "Scream for me."

The girl could not help but oblige.

Eurealia awoke with a gasp, her heart beating fast and her chest rising and falling quickly. She had fallen asleep again. Every day she had the same dream without fail. Sometimes it would be complete and other times it was flashes. Groaning softly, the Elf leaned her elbows on the cluttered desk and rubbed at her golden eyes. Real sleep was what she needed but it was hard to force herself to relax when she knew what was waiting for her. She pushed some blonde hair behind a pointed ear, letting out a sigh and forcing herself to stand. A small grunt escaped her pursed lips as her legs protested at being put to use after sitting for so long.

A few unsteady steps later and she was over at one of the sinks in her lab. She splashed cold water in her face, chasing away the last vestiges of sleep. Her mind was fuzzy, vague memories of the research she had been doing floating amidst her memories of her dreams and things she had planned to do before retiring for the night -- though retiring to bed was a rarity for her. Whatever the Elf had to do, it was not going to get done while she felt like this. She needed some fresh air, and maybe something nice to drink. Smiling a little to herself, the woman turned away from the sink in the direction of the stairs leading up into her actual house.

She paused at the front door, looking down at herself before letting out a small embarrassed laugh and changing her mind. Going out in just a silk cream night dress and lab coat would probably attract the wrong sort of attention -- she must have been really out of it when she headed down to the lab this morning.

A few minutes later, Eurealia stepped out of her home in a shimmering bronze skirt and white blouse. The sorceress had decided to forgo jewellery and instead had just tied her hair back into a rather untidy ponytail. She was expected to look reasonably fashionable even on her own, but right now the last thing the blonde wanted to do was put effort into how she looked. Her ballet pumps made little sound on the cobbled streets, giving her some blissful anonymity within the remote town. Soon night would fall and the place would become a bit more lively, but her intended destination tended to be lively all day although it closed a little bit before the bars started throwing customers out.

The Elf smiled at a few people she recognised, hoping that her hasty job with her potions had not left too obvious fatigue on her face -- her managers would kill her if there was. She would be glad once she arrived at the reading café, a joyful little place where she could sink into a comfortable armchair, enjoy a tea and read a book borrowed from the library the establishment resided in. To the woman, it was heaven and one of the few places she spent any time in excluding her lab. She had promised her son that she would not be such a shut-in when she was not working but it had been an empty agreement and part of her suspected the young half-Elf had suspected as much too.

Sighing softly, she entered the library and headed straight to the café, giving the owner an appreciative smile before moving over to her regular table and settling in for a relaxing evening.

"Why hasn't he sent any sort of correspondence?" Sonya was in a fowl mood today. It had been a month since she sent Luke to Silvholm and yet he hasn't accomplished his task. It was indeed out of character for him to take so long. Her fears ran rampant as she thought of him being discovered. No doubt it would cause problems for the two countries and dissolve any pretense of diplomacy. But, she didn't care. All Sonya wanted was her information and she wanted it now!

"I...I'm not sure your Empress" her advisor grimaced at the Empresses tirade. They had been walking through the gardens when she had received no further news of Luke or his progress. It was days like this that everyone knew to stay out of her way.

"Must I do everything myself," Sonya demanded? Her ginger locks swirled behind her as she stormed off and back into the palace. The clacking sound of her beautiful jeweled shoes kept her mind from drifting. She walked with purpose. Her small frame burst through a door with iron trees on its front. When entering the study, darkness engulfed her, but with a flick of her wrist the room was illuminated by candles set atop every surface imaginable.

Sonya's gold and blue gown twinkled in the firelight. She appeared almost wild and ethereal as she sauntered towards her alter. There was information to behold and there was one way she knew how to get it. Magic had never let her down and this time would be no different. Her eyes moved towards one of the cages nearby. Two small birds started to awake. Their greeting beautiful. A warm smile painted her lips as she started to pull one away from its perch. Sonya whistled, encouraging it to continue its sweet melody.

Then, with her free hand she picked up an small dagger. Sonya stabbed the bird effortlessly, making sure not to get blood onto her gown, she poured its contents into her scrying bowl. Her hands held the bird until the beating of its heart ceased. When it was no longer alive she placed it aside.

Leaning over she began to work her forbidden magic.

***

Luke tightened his mouth around a slender neck, that of a siren, who had attempted to lure him into the shadows. She had planned to rob him blind and leave him for dead. However, he had already dispatched the two thugs attempting to hide from his sights. It only took three steps before he vanished and appeared before each one individually. It was a talent that he discovered which was by far his favorite amongst the many he possessed. It was one that required stamina, which he was lacking, and since the two brutes had robbed him of an adequate meal. He decided to take his vengeance upon their fair leader; Luke reveled in her fear. The taste of it coursed through his mouth, warming his innards.

When the sound of her heartbeat grew dim he clenched his mouth tighter. Luke wouldn't leave this one alive. This one wouldn't be missed and the world would thank him. Even if it were for the night the streets would be safe. Then, she drew her last breath and he dropped her lifeless body right there onto the street.

He straightened himself and began to smooth out any wrinkles from his modestly tailored jacket. His suite wasn't anything fancy. Luke had purchased his cream shirt somewhere in town amongst his other apparel items. He'd done so in an attempt to fit amongst his fellow Elves in Silvholm. He made fast work of tightening his chocolate brown tie. After all Luke had somewhere to be that was of the utmost importance. Once he was done he made sure to clean his face of any blood that might give him away.

And off into the distance he jauntily strolled.

Eurealia smiled at the owner as she placed a cup and saucer in front of her. The silver-haired girl was quite a bit older than her but all Elves tended to look around the same age once they were fully grown. She got on well with the girl -- Ella -- although they did not talk that much. The sorceress tended to be tired and distracted, and she had not really been the greatest at conversation at the best of times. She picked up the cup, savouring the smell of herbs and fruits before taking a small sip of the hot liquid. A blissful sigh escaped her, the heat coursing through her and dispelling the chill claws around her heart. The woman slipped her feet out of her pumps, tucking her legs underneath her before opening her book and beginning to read. She sunk into the ochre coloured furniture, letting her mind drift along with the story she read. The Elf knew that everything she did was escapism, whether it was her work or reading, but it was all she had, especially now that her son had moved out.

She pushed her left side bang behind her pointed ear, shifting a little on the armchair to get comfortable before settling down again. Her golden eyes moved quickly, her long delicate fingers turning the pages quickly. The first few times she had started visiting here, she remember some watching her in a mixture of bemusment and awe at how fast she read. Eurealia had not realised her speed of reading was unusual until she had started reading in public. It had been a source of amusement for her at first, although it had eventually began to get uncomfortable until her fellow Silvholmians got used to seeing their famous resident around the town. Fortunately, the town was small so it did not take that long in the end. The model might have been born a city Elf, but like most who came to live in this distant place, she could never imagine leaving it for anything.

"Would you like anything else?" whispered Ella suddenly, almost making the other female jump.

The blonde looked at her cup, surprised to see it empty. "Oh... Could I have another cup please?"

Smiling brightly, the silver-haired Elf nodded and took away the used cup, returning a couple of minutes later with a fresh tea. "We're closing in another hour or so."

"Thank you, Ella," said Eurealia, returning to her book and letting the world fade away once more.

----

Kaile felt a little vulnerable at the moment. The Elves around him did not appear perturbed by his lack of clothing, in fact many of them seemed to be a little overly distracted by it. He sat there in the nude, only a length of thin what looked like someone's curtain protecting his modesty. He hugged his knees lightly, his skinny form looking almost deathly pale in the light. His long dark hair was tied up in a ponytail, his dark eyes looking up towards the ceiling in what looked like a dramatic thoughtful pose but was mostly to help him forget about the class all around him. The boy still did not know how he had let himself be persuaded to be a life model for the art club at his University, but he had and here he was -- at least he would get paid pretty well for these couple of hours.

Leaving the town he had spent all his life in had been rather... educational. City Elves tended to move at a much faster pace, and it seemed they had a fascination with someone like him. They were curious about his unusual appearance, even for an Elf, and eyes always seemed to end up on him no matter how inconspicuous he was trying to be. His mother had warned him it might be like this, but he really had not quite expected such attention as he garnered. On top of that, he was struggling to control urges inside him that he understood but dare not explore too closely. The dark half of him hungered for the sort of energy released from intimate situations, and with women and men practically drooling over him at times, it was getting harder and harder to ignore the need. He had ways of dealing with it, but they were not exactly ideal.

Closing his eyes for a moment, he sighed and opened them again, remembering he had to hold the exact same pose without even changing the position of his eyes -- except for blinking since everyone needed to do that. What would his mother think if he told her that he was practically naked in front of a group of twenty men and women. When he thought about it, it would probably make her laugh. Suppressing a small smile, Kaile thought about his beloved mother and how much he missed having her around. He knew he needed to grow up and learn to take care of himself, but it was hard to let go of the comforts of home.

Luke melded into the shadows, as he snaked through the alley ways, towards a cafe' of sorts. He hadn't imagined the night dwindling away so fast. Some of the local shops and restaurants had started to close while others were just teetering on doing so. His foot-falls were silent as he rounded the corner. "Here at last" he breathed before popping inside. Luke ignored any stares given. He wandered through what appeared to be a library. There was a casualness about his demeanor as he perused a few title. He grabbed one that was familiar. It was a book of archaic poems he had fancied to own. But, tonight wasn't about the book in his hands. No. This particular place was important, the timing was important, and she was important. His green eyes caught her sitting eloquently there as he entered the room.

She was beautiful and much more so than viewing her from a distance. Tonight, he told himself , he wouldn't lurk after her from afar. He was ready to complete his mission. The only way to do that is to get her to let him in, to trust him, and soon he will uncover whatever Sonya wanted.
He wanted nothing more than to please Sonya because they'd been through so much together. But, for all that maybe Sonya cursed him to this fowl place on a fools errand. Luke swallowed his agitation and continued on. He watched as the elven woman before him thumbing through her pages. She was so serene.

Luke slipped into a vacant seat and began to crack open his book. Now, all he had to do was wait.

***

Sonya emerged from the darkness, tendrils of smoke surrounding her, as she walked through the portal she created. She was in a foreign place, amongst the elven people. Yet, they paid no attention because she wasn't really there. Sonya was hidden between a magical veil that allowed her to see the present and into far distances. Time and space were hers to control...for the moment. Then she saw him and halted her fanciful steps. Her pale blue eyes drank in the scene before her. Never had she seen a man with such little clothing and surely one that looked like the creature before her. Sonya found it difficult to look away. She was mesmerized by this rare beauty. "What are you" she murmured? Her figure glided through what appeared to be a classroom full of artist. They hadn't interested her so she left them be.

She moved closer and closer.

Her fingers reached out daring to touch him. "We always want what we can't touch" a voice emerged through the darkness of the portal. Sonya whirled around startled. She cursed herself for allowing her guard down. There before her was a demon. It slithered slowly towards her. It was one of desire and formed into something dangerous and beautiful. It's lips dripping with sweet and twisted words. Its charms had snaked it's ways years ago into Sonya's heart, making promises of greatness. Now, both of their fates were intertwined.

At first Sonya hadn't understood why she'd been sent here but now it was starting to come clear. Was this man somehow a key to the puzzle, she wondered? "What is he K'lina" Sonya needed answers before she was sent back. K'lina smirked. Her inky black eyes looked upon her without pity. "He's a Mernway...and not just any ordinary Mernway" her fingers curled around Sonya's chin. "Shall I make you beg before telling you more" the desire demon demanded? Fear rolled into the pit of Sonya's stomach. She'd had always know she was K'lina's puppet but never has she treated her in such a manner. Her chin ached. "I'll do anything" Sonya whispered in defeat. Then K'lina's head bent down claiming Sonya's lips.

And in an instant they were gone.

"We're closing now," said a soft voice, startling Eurealia out of her own little world.

Eurealia smiled, her cheeks a little warm from embarrassment. "Thank you, Ella." She got to her feet, smoothing her bronze skirt down before sliding a hand around her back to pull it up slightly, hiding the very tiny amount of white waistband that had been on display. Her blouse was a little rumpled but a that was not too difficult to smooth it out. Sighing softly, she gave the Elf girl another small smile before turning away in the direction of the shelves where she had retrieved her book.

It was dark between the shelves, the café owner having given the sorceress as much time as she could before she absolutely had to lock up. Being an Elf, the darkness was no real issue and so she found her spot easily. She ascended a small step ladder, placing the book in the gap she had left before pausing there, feeling her eyes growing heavy for a moment. Closing them, she breathed slowly before she sighed and shook her head. She was getting tired again, it was perhaps time to go back and take another nap -- the dream would be there but what else could she do? Being exhausted in her lines of work was too dangerous to allow.

She finally climbed back down the ladder, grateful she had decided to wear a long skirt. In actual fact, Eurealia rarely liked to show her skin off. Years of being a monstrosity had left its mark, making her shy of showing off her now flawless skin. Only recently had she been persuaded to model something that resembled a one-piece swimsuit and that had only been because the lighting made it difficult to really make out her skin and it had been cut off so not much of her bare legs were shown. She shivered involuntarily. It had felt good to do it, but the sorceress was not sure if she could manage something like that again anytime soon, especially without her son around to support her.

---

Kaile had felt the atmosphere in the room change all of a sudden. His dark eyes flickered about, the boy feeling iritated that he could not turn his head. There was a presence in the room. It was close to him, moving towards him but it was not visible to his eyes beyond a vague outline in the air. Whoever or whatever it was, it had to be powerful to break through the heavy layers of warding in the University and the city itself. Most could not detect scrying unless they were actively looking for spies, but his mixed heritage gave him the same ability as demons to see the psychic presence of others. It had helped him catch a few of the more powerful mages in training who were spying on him while undressing or showering -- evidently he had attracted a lot of admirers from many females and even a few males. He found it annoying but also kind of flattering.

This presence however, was different. He could barely see their outline, their magic cloaking them that most mages would probably not see her even if they were actively looking for them. His heart began to beat quickly as the scrying mage reached towards him before pausing and looking behind them. He felt another presence enter the room, a familiar and dark presence. Heat began to rise in him as his demonic blood answered the call of its fellow kind. It took a lot of willpower to not move, to pretend that he was not noticing the presence of a demon in the room. Whoever was watching him was a fool, they had become the slave of a demon. It was probably only their raw power that had prevented the alien being from tearing their mind apart and turning their body into a blasphemous portal of flesh and bone. The mage was on the path to ruin but Kaile knew it was not really his problem. The demon was probably no higher than a General in rank and they were not particulary dangerous on their own -- their true strength was how they could augment Lesser demons into dangerous and feerless warriors.

As suddenly as they appeared, the two presences vanished. The tightness in his chest began to relax slightly but he was still bothered by what had happened. Was one of the students here succumbing to a demon's temptations? Surely a student or teacher here would have been found in the regular screening programmes. He could only conclude it was an outsider, but why would an outsider appear in an art class. Was it an accident? He closed his eyes for a moment. Demons rarely made mistakes... so why was it here with its pet mage?

*

The class had finally ended and Kaile was pulling his clothing back on. He wore loose black slacks with a plain black shirt. Underneath he wore a pair of dark grey silk boxers and similarly coloured socks. Sliding his shoes on, he slung his bag over his shoulder and wandered out of the building in the direction of his dorm room. His free hand shook slightly, the demonic presence from earlier making it harder than normal to control the urges inside him. He would have to look himself in when he got back and take a very cold shower. After that, he would have to put the shaking hand to sate the desires his demon blood demanded. The King of Lust had been his father, was it any surprise that he struggled with his cravings? If it was not sex, it was violence. If it was not drink, it was food. He had found that touching himself was the only way to stop it most of the time. It made him feel dirty, but with so many people around it was difficult not to see someone or something that attracted both him and his natural instincts.

Sonya spiraled through time and space at a dangerous pace. Her ginger locks thrashed about her face making it difficult to see. She was in the darkness but she wasn't alone. K'lina held her quivering form tightly against her ample one. She thrashed to get away, to see her captor, but it was futile. They just ended up melding closer and closer together until they were a tangle of limbs and fabric. The demons mouth caressed her earlobe while her fingers trailed against her jaw-line. Sonya the fearless was for once afraid. Demons were unpredictable creatures that couldn't be trusted but she had placed all her trust into K'lina. Apart of her wondered if her usefulness had come to an end? "If you want him you must claim him...Sonya" the demons breath was hot in her ear. She shivered at the double meaning of her tormentors words. "You need him...to save our throne...and your life".

Her eyes grew wide. "Knowledge always come with a price," K'lina cooed, "but I'll teach you". The demon had made quick work with Sonya's dress. Her sharp, thick, long nails had ripped apart the girls undergarments. "I can't," she cried in earnest. This hadn't been part of the deal and she wasn't ready to pay this sort of price. "Ssh my pet," her demon soothed, "knowledge is all I'm giving...your innocence isn't mine to take". Sonya chocked back her tears, "I don't want to die". K'lina turned Sonya around, her fingers weaving into Sonya's hair, "I won't let that happen little mage".

Then, K'lina's lips consumed every inch of Sonya's mouth. She struggled against her for breath but none was coming. Their was a warmth growing in the pit of her stomach. A feeling that she'd never felt before. Then, before the darkness consumed her, air started to rush into her lungs, and it was full of sweetness. "There will be no rest for the wicked Sonya". Her heart pounded as K'lina pressed warm kisses down her neck and over her bare shoulders. She no longer had the strength to resist. It was like the demon had cast her under a spell, soothing her anxiety with her exotic touch.

The power hungry mage was no match for a desire demon as powerful as K'lina. Her humble breast rose and fell with each touch. Sonya closed her blue eyes to the wild sensations washing over her. "Open your mouth sweets" and like a good girl she did just that. K'lina deepened the kiss, slipping her tongue further, until Sonya felt like she would be consumed. In return, Sonya mimicked just that of her tormentor. They laid in each others arms as they floated through time and space. The girl was at K'lina's mercy as the two twisted and turned.

Sonya refused to be afraid. The warmth collecting at the pit of her belly began to spread through her limbs. She arched with wanton abandon. "Good," K'lina purred. This time her hand began to move up Sonya's bare thigh, inching it's way towards her warmth. A gasp escaped Sonya's lips as she felt something foreign delved between her thighs. It felt like time and space was ending. Then instinctively she rocked her hips against K'linas hand until she was consumed by a brilliant flash of light.

"You know," Luke started, "it's not safe out there to walk alone". He hoped he hadn't startled her but she walked past him in such a daze. Perhaps, she was musing about something. Maybe it was important to him and his mission. Or maybe it was nothing. Either way Luke saw it as an opportunity. He had gotten from his chair and followed her. When she started to climb the later he thrust his book into any random slot. He just stood there perusing the titles until she had came down. "I could call for a powered carriage if you'd like" he couldn't help but smile politely. Yes, he needed her to trust him. There was so much at stake if things went badly for him.

Luke took a small bow, "My apologies. I am Lucas Iverlyn". It was a lie but he had to keep his identity a secret. His real name had a tendency of evoking negative reactions. In Mana mothers tell their children stories of him to fill their children with terror. The demon dog of the Empress who will snatch them in the night if they don't behave. There was some truth to their stories and he knew there would be no forgiveness for his sins.

Eurealia started as a male voice interrupted her thoughts. Glancing to the sides, her golden eyes were wide for a moment before she quickly schooled her expression. She gave him a small friendly smile, pushing some stray blonde hair behind her pointed ear. "I have lived here for eighteen years. The people know me and there is nothing to fear in this town," she said with absolute certainty. It was true there were a few rough characters even in a friendly place like Silvholme, but her reputation preceded her and anyone who had ever made the mistake of threatening her had left in utter terror. She disliked using magic for violence, but sometimes it was necessary and the Elf was not afraid to do it for her own safety -- never again would she be helpless.

"Thank you, but that will not be necessary. I like to walk and it is a lovely night." She suppressed a small chuckle as the stranger bowed, a rather archaic but touching gesture. "I am Eurealia Mernway," she replied, politely. Most people knew her name but considering the situation it seemed right to reply. Although she wished to go home to sleep, she decided to take the opportunity to look over him while his head was dipped. He was quite striking with a certain confident aura about him that both alarmed and excited her. His green eyes really caught her gaze and their eyes met for a few moments before she looked away awkwardly. She turned away and began to leave, pausing to look over her shoulder at him. "It was nice to meet you Luke Iverlyn. It has been a while since I met someone new in this place." With that said, she began to walk away, her hips swaying slightly with the walk drilled into her by her management team since she started working as a model.

Kaile breathed heavily. One hand leaned on the cold tiles of the shower cubicle, the other around his erect member. Fluid spilled out of it, his grip on the hard shaft loosening as the last throes of his climax loosened its grip on him. His heart was pounding in his chest, his skin boiling hot despite the freezing water that poured down his nude form. His long dark hair stuck to his body, hiding most of his face as he stared downwards at nothing. The desires inside him had been sated for now at least. He pushed himself off the tiles, changing the water to hot and quickly washing himself off. It was fortunate no one else where here. The bathrooms in his dorm were communal but he tended to take his showers in the dead of night so he was very rarely disturbed -- he only needed a few hours sleep a night.

Wrapping a towel around his skinny form, he carried stepped out of the shower and stuffed his things into his washbag before heading back to his room. He used his magic to quickly dry himself off, pulling his hair back into its customary ponytail before throwing himself onto his bed. Laying on top of the sheets naked, he picked up a textbook from off the bedside table and opened it to where he was last. He was several chapters ahead of the class, but the half-Elf was determined to finish the book in the next few days. After that, he would try his hand at more advanced things. He knew his obsession with learning was another part of his need to do everything to excess, but in this case it did not seem like it would harm anyone so he allowed this particular indulgence.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well Ms. Mernway", he politely nodded, "I'm charmed". Luke discouraged himself from taking her hand. Instead he gave her another curtly bow which he had always been accustomed to do. He slipped his hands in his pockets and just stood there admits the books with her. "I've only been in Silvholme for a few months now. It's a delightful place…but I had no idea such a cafe' existed." His gaze moved over her fair features, her golden hair, and then they managed to find themselves lost in the liquid gold of her eyes. No, this woman was a siren to be sure. A tinge of guilt hit him as he abandoned his feelings for Sonya. The woman before him was more mature and didn't have the body of a child yet fully blossomed. But, he was dedicated and yearned for the love of his Empress. He shamed himself for even comparing the two. "My model suggested that I spend time here and enjoy the library," he smiled, "I often a enjoy a good read before bed-". It wasn't a lie. He loved books and whenever he needed some form of escape from his gloomy past he would find it within an enchanting book. Sadly, he didn't have much time for reading these days.

But, she had already been on the move before he could say another word. Taking a quick look at his pocket watch he strode after her. "I sincerely apologize if I've disturbed you-,"he watched her move through the door. He cursed at his insufferable timing. Luke knew when to back off and tonight he would do just that. If she needed space he would give it. However, nothing said he couldn't watch her from afar and so he contently watched Eurealia's swaying hips.

Sonya awoke, crumpled, on the cold stone of her studies floor. She sat herself up slowly unsure where she was. Flashes of images started to swim behind her eyes. Her skin felt hot and her face was flushed. Slowly, she picked herself up and the weight of her gown seemed to drag her back to the floor. Once she had stabilized her wobbling legs she cleaned her hands of the birds blood and anything remaining in her scrying bowl. The candles had started to die out and the darkness began to snake its way in the room. The darkness had always made her uneasy, just like K'lina, and nothing good came from either. Quickly, she deserted the room. Sonya sought refuge in her own chambers where she could forget her trouble. After running hastily up several flights of stairs she was greeted by the grounds servants. "You look as if you'd seen a ghost M'lady," she paid no attention to their fodder and moved past her bedroom doors. The two servants stared at each other, a bit of uneasy of the Empresses mood.

They undressed her in silence and began to draw her a bath. In a room cut away from her sleeping quarters was a large circle stone tube. It wasn't advanced and a bit archaic but she could fully submerge herself within. Ever since she arrived in Mana and to the palace this one item was her favorite. Before, bathing had been a luxury on the battle field and to stay at an inn within the cities was dangerous for mages. They had stuck to the outskirt and forrest. She didn't miss bathing in the rivers while Luke kept watch. When she was finally alone she began to step into the warm pool before her. Her hand maidens scurried off to prepare her table for the evening meal.

Eurealia listened to Luke as he spoke. Being an Elf, her hearing was excellent and she could probably hear him speaking from the other side of the library in the current quietness. She gave a small node to Ella as she wiped at the tables and put the chairs up. All of the lights except the emergency ones were off now, putting the library into a orange twilight. She often wondered why her kind liked to use lights when they did not really use them. The woman did know that humans often complained that Elvish lights were too soft to let them see things properly. The sorceress personally liked the soft lighting, it gave all of the Elvish cities a beautiful aura about them. She had seen some pictures of the Mage Empire cities and they always looked rather harsh.

The man was still following her as she walked. She felt a little rude and stopped as she opened the door, holding it open until he was outside also before she turned to speak to him. She shook her head. "No, you did not disturb me. I apologise I am little tired." Sighing softly, she clasped her hands behind her back and looked at him steadily. Their eyes did not meet this time, but she could not help herself from talking to him -- he caught her interest for some reason but then she remembered something he said. "A model? Are you an artist or photographer? I do some model work myself and I wonder if I know her. I know many of the models who work in the Elvish Kingdom." She smiled at Luke, her golden eyes sparkling slightly in the light from the streetlamps.

Luke stood with his hands in his pockets. He pondered how he would delicately explain that his model was a whore. It could look bad but when he first arrived he only had the money given. The rest he had to make along the way. She had been his saving grace and offered her services. However, he had no real desire for her so instead he hired her for his commissions. He didn't think Eurealia really needed to know the gritty details in the end. "I'm a painter...and as for my model....well she is new to her profession but I am convinced she'll make a name for herself. However, she falls short compared to your elegance" His green eyes glowed. "My studio is in the more modest part of this fair city." Luke knew that his studio couldn't compete with the type of places she was accustomed. However, for his model Nuadolria it was just right, the right amount of coin, and the right amount of attention. It was enough to get him by until things were wrapped up here.

"Wait...are you the Eurealia?" He mustered a face of surprise. It amused him how easily it was to be deceitful. "I am truly honored." He began to close the distance between them until there was very little. His eyes traced the edges of her mouth. "But I suppose you hear that all the time." Luke peered down into her golden eyes and sighed. "Perhaps...in the future I'll have the privilege of painting your portrait. No doubt someone as lovely as you should be shared with the world." Feeling brave Luke took his hand out of his pocket and slowly swept a fly away strand behind the curve of her elven ear. His finger tips grazed her smooth skin. "I'd like that very much Ms. Mernway."

She cocked her head to the side slightly as Luke talked about his work, sensing a slight reluctance to impart too much detail. The Elf could understand that sort of defensiveness, most creative types found it uncomfortable to talk about their work – the ones that did like to talk tended to do little of the actual work they claim to be their own. Her soft lips perked up in a small smiled, her eyes full of understanding. “Well I wish her luck. Perhaps one day I might meet your mysterious model.” The sorceress laughed a little at his unashamed complement, her smile growing warmer and her golden eyes softer. “I did not think that a place like Silvholme was large enough to differentiate between rich and poor. I suppose some have larger houses than others,” she said, flicking at the night insects that were starting to gather as the air began to cool. Living in the countryside meant more insects, which she was largely fine with since they tended not to bother her much.

Eurealia’s smile grew a little bashful as the green-eyed Elf finally recognised her rather well known visage and name. She felt herself growing a little tense as he moved close, the sound of his breathing filling her senses. It was slow and regular, perhaps a little too slow although he did not appear out of breath. Any closer and she was sure his heartbeat would be audible to her sensitive ears. She shook her head as he spoke about how honoured he was, her ponytail swaying slightly with the movement. His eyes were so intense, looking over her in a way she had become used to although she still found it a little discomforting. “I do, but you never get used to it.” She laughed a little nervously, taking a half step back without even realising it. Her heart was starting to beat a little fast, the intensity of this stranger called Luke starting to get to her. The Elf could feel her mind starting to slip a little and that frightened her, bringing back the thoughts and feelings of the only other time in her life she had ever lost control.

“You are too ki—” Her words caught in her throat as his surprisingly soft finger grazed against the top of her ear where it curved to a point. Eyes half-closing, she felt her mind flash just over eighteen years ago.

A claw gently traced the outline of her ear, teasing the point. She moaned despite the terror and fear she felt.

“You like that don’t you?”

Despite herself, she found herself nodding. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked up at the massive dark form looming over her. Whimpers escaped her bruised lips as the creature’s other hand tore the bottom of her dress off along with her panties in a series of elegant swipes of his clawed fingers that left her skin flawless. He gently stroked the hard nub at her intimate parts. She whimpered again, her legs tensing and more tears flowing from her eyes.

“Ah you like this too. I told you. Inside everyone is a whore waiting to come out.”

Eurealia snapped back to the present, her eyes growing wide for a moment as she tried to lock the bad times away once more. She had not been touched tenderly like that since that day. It confused her so much that she had to tense her legs to stop herself from running away. Her fists were clenched by her sides and it took her a moment to realise she had been holding her breath since he had touched her ear. “Thank you, Mr Iverlyn. Perhaps… Perhaps one day,” said the Elf timidly, her golden eyes avoiding his gaze. “If you have a proposition then please contact my management team. I will be happy to look it over. Good night.” Bowing her head slightly, the sorceress turned around and walked stiffly in the direction of her home – it was all she could do to stop herself running straight home as fast as she could.

Luke watched Eurealia behind cool and calculating eyes. Her heart beat quickened as her slender frame stiffened at his touch. At first he thought it was because she was flustered but it was clear she was frightened. Was he repulsive? No, Luke knew it had to do with something deeper. It caught him off guard since woman tended to be putty in his hands. Eurealia was different and he chided himself for over stepping his boundaries. He was growing impatient and he longed to return home to Sonya. However, he grew lost in her golden eyes as she peered upwards at him with a wide and nervous gaze. Luke found himself yet agin eyeing the curve of her mouth as she began to speak in a rushed manner. Then before he could get a word out she was making her way into the distance. Then before he could retort she had turned to leave him there alone on the street. He stood there in silence contemplating if he should follow or leave her be until next time? After flipping a mental coin he decided that tonights encounter was far to interesting leave as is. Stealthy, he slipped into the shadows and followed followed at a respectable pace.

***

A sigh of relief escaped Sonya as the water from her bath embraced her ivory skin. It was warm and relaxing. Her troubles seemed to flutter away as she toiled in the delights of her scented soaps and shampoo's. She reclined in the tub recounting the times that a simple bath was hard to come by. Those days were full of blood shed, hunger, and darkness.

"Why!" Sonya's head jerked up towards the door of her chambers. Luke burst through them. His green eyes challenged her. No doubt he just received his orders and didn't fancy her decision. Her handmaidens paused in their attempt to dress her for the night. He stood in front of them with his papers in hands. He sent them skittering on the stone floor before her. She could tell that he was extremely angry by the set of his jaw. "Have I not been a loyal servant? I have given you everything!," he shouted, "I've killed for you…so…tell me why?"

"Leave us," her words fell on deaf ears as her handmaidens stood looking between the two. They worried for her safety but Sonya didn't fear Luke. Yet, the two were growing uneasy as he approached with long slow strides. "Leave us," he hissed through clenched teeth. Smoldering green eyes dared them to keep standing guard. Sonya turned taking both of their hand in hers. "It'll be alright." She watched as the two darted out of Luke's path, slipping past her bedrooms door. The sound of the door closing behind them was deafening.

She watched with calculating eyes as he approached. What vexed him? Never in all these years together had he disobeyed an order. Why now? Sonya didn't like the way dark glint in Luke's eye. There was something more than just fury swimming behind their depths. No, he came here with an agenda…with a purpose. For the very first time she was uneasy around him. She swallowed hard as he drew near.

Sonya took a step back.

"Answer me Sonya," he spat. She chose her next words carefully since he wasn't acting like himself. "For the good of the empire…my empire," she declared. Her answer displeased him. Then before she could take a step backward he closed the space between them. "Damn your Empire!" His hand suddenly snaked around her neck holding her with a firm grasp. Luke's mouth collided with hers as he drew her into his frame. Her mouth ached at the assault. Sonya's eyes grew wide as his tongue caressed hers. She could taste Eldorium wine on his tonnage. Each time she tried to escape from his kisses he brought her face back to his. His hand tangled themselves in her flowing red hair. She was trapped in his embrace. Fear…actual fear threatened to engulf her senses. And when she thought she'd pass out from the lack of air he released her mouth.

"No," she cried. His lips trailed down her jaw to the hollow of her neck. Carefully, he laid them down on the stone floor of her chambers. Luke ignored her pleas. "I've waited…forever watching," he breathed, "I've wanted you for so long" A shiver ran up Sonya's spine as his lips brushed and nibbled at her skin. He laid atop of her small frame pinning her down. "Don't send me away without my rewards." His hands began to claw at her gowns straps. The sound of material being ripped made her heart leap into her throat.

Sonya panicked as Lukes hand jerked her skirt over her hips. Her bare thighs rubbed against the rough material of his slacks. Her mind toiled on the severity of the situation. Why was he doing this? After everything they'd been through not once had she shown her such ill feelings. Luke was her most loyal companion, mentor, and confidant. Yet, she caused this…this hunger within him. Had she driven him mad? She flat the palm of his hand on the inside of her thigh. Yes, she was driving him mad and he was going to take what he wanted.

"Please….don't do this….not like this Luke," her lips trembled. She heard the jingling of a belt buckle and felt his knee pushing her legs apart. "Stop!" She screamed loudly in hopes that her voice would bring the guards. Her heart dropped when none came to her aid. "I love you Sonya," his breath fanned her ear, "I've always loved you." His words felt heavy as if the entire world fell upon her. But she didn't love him. "When will the timing ever be right," he soothed, "We've been fighting for so long together…I can't be sent away like this."

Tears streamed from the corners of her blue eyes. "It's not forever." Her lips pleading for him to listen. "I'll promise you Luke….I'll give you this and more…but not like this." Her words were mangled sobs. The lie was easy coming. She acted like a cage animal and the beast thrown amongst her was stronger. Apart of her knew that she pushed constantly at his patience and one day he would bite. But she needed him to make sure that her future as Empress would be a long reign. So, the lies she started to weave would ensure Luke to remain faithful. "I'll make you Emperor and I'll concede to you."

Luke brushed several red strands from her face. "I've never asked to rule beside you…I just want to be with you…forever." His green eyes looked down upon her sobering a bit. "I'm sorry Sonya" Perhaps, it was his rage or the wine but he began to realize the situation. Her blue eyes bore a hole into him. "I've frightened you….maker forgive me….I'm a monster." He murmured over and over into her hair. Carefully, he scooped her into his loving embrace. He rocked her back in forth like so long ago. Tears broke through her eyes as relief filled her. "I'll be you vengeance…your will…and I'll protect you forever." Luke held on to her as if she would break into a million pieces.

Her blue eyes stared off into the distance as her memories evaded her. It seemed like yesterday that Luke had been here begging and pleading before her. He loved her and soon she would betray him. And when that day arrived she knew that he'd be lost to her. Sonya felt the pang of loss somewhere in her heart.

"I'm so sorry my friend", she whispered.

Eurealia was struggling as she walked back home. The normally broad clean avenues of Silvholme felt narrow and dark, the white stone buildings looming over her. The lanterns in the square windows looked like fiery eyes burning into her soul, reminding her of when she had last seen eyes like flame. The sounds of night were smothered by the pounding of her heart against her ribs. Her chest felt tight, as if something heavy had sat down upon her. It was starting to get hard to breathe, her breath coming in shallow gasps.

She hugged herself gently as she turned into the street leading to the outskirts of the town where her home lay. Her fingers dug into the soft material of her blouse, shivers running up and down her spine despite the warmth of the evening. Biting her lip, the sorceress hugged herself more tightly, her arms unintentionally accentuating her breasts . The tips of her bosoms were beginning to grow hard, cold sweat breaking out on her flawless skin and her golden eyes starting to shimmer brightly with moisture. Moist heat pooled between her legs, turning to dampness in her panties. Whimpering very softly under her breath, she hurried her steps and hoped she could get back to her home before collapsing completely into her memories.

Claws delicately stripped the remaining scraps of her dress away, baring her simple white bra. The demon laughed at her developing chest and girlish choice of underwear, his claw gently sliding to pull between the cups. The fabric lifted away from her chest, stretching the white material out until it could bear no more.

Her awareness faded in and out while she walked, the world around her fading to a tunnel ending at her home punctuated by flashbacks to her teenage years. She could see the windmill turning gently in the gentle breeze that always blew across the small round hill her home stood upon. Sighing softly, she hurried her pace, trying to ignore the memories that kept trying to burst out.

With a tearing sound, the fabric connecting the cups tore. He laughed again, letting the undergarment fall back onto her quivering body, barely covering the gentle curves of her pubescent breasts. "Oh you shall be a true beauty in a few years' time. It is a shame you will not live to see that time."

Feeling her stomach lurch, the Elf barely managed to struggle her way up the winding path to her windmill abode. The dirt path spiralled its way up the hill, wood beams embedded into the hard packed dirt to form crude stairs. Her unsteady steps almost tripped a few times on the uneven path that was normally so easy to her. Eventually she surfaced from her memories to find herself in front of her own door, panting and sweating heavily. She waved her hand to unlock it, the dark wood opening to admit her.

His massive dark hand pulled the broken bra away, tossing it away with the other scraps of her clothing. His smouldering eyes looked over her nude form, still developing but rather pleasing nonetheless. "Such a child to summon me. Well I shall make you a woman... whether you like it or not."

Letting the door close behind her, she collapsed onto her hands and knees. Weeping softly, she let herself lay on the polished wooden floor, curling into a foetal ball. Waves of pain, pleasure and terror washed through her body. The memories always did this to her, arousing her and scaring her at the same time. Normally it was confined to her dreams, making every morning unpleasant. It had been months since her last panic attack. She thought she had gotten over this but a simple touch from the Elf called Luke had sent her into a tailspin so easily. The Sorceress hoped that she would never meet Luke again... Part of her hoped she met him again too.

She sighed, feeling her body finally starting to relax. "Stupid," muttered Eurealia under her breath, rolling to lay on her back on the floor and laughing bitterly. Her breathing slowed, her heart returning to a normal pace and the arousal in her body fading. "Stupid stupid stupid."

Pushing herself to her feet, she dusted herself down before deciding it was a good time to take a shower and actually sleep in her bed for a change. While the dreams would come, she had just had a panic attack and those often left her exhausted. Pushing some of her long blonde hair behind her ear, she walked up stairs to the upper story of the converted windmill. The upper floor consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom. She entered her bedroom, stripping off her clothes and pulling on a silk robe to cover up her nude form. Walking through to the bathroom, she awoke the magical crystals that gave light and heat to most of her home. They filled the room with a golden glow, almost like firelight.

The bathroom was fairly normal looking although it had an unusually large walk-in shower with frosted glass. She used her magic to turn on the flow of water, magic crystals within the pipework heating the water to an ideal temperature. Sighing softly, she removed her robe and hung it up on a hook on the back of the door. Her long golden hair hung down behind and in front of her body, hiding most of her body with its silken strands. Stepping in, she pulled the glass screen closed and stepped under the hot water.

Luke inhaled deeply, savoring the crisp night air, before releasing it very slowly. Eurealia’s scent clawed at his brain. His heart quickened. He stood pensive, as he watched her slender frame become nothing more than a hazy, misshapen figure on the road. Luke could taste her fear and he relished it. Her fear, however, was most intriguing since he hadn’t been threatening or untoward at all. It was rather unexpected. He couldn’t help but internalize what might have spooked his prey. “What secrets do you keep,” he breathed before following after. He treaded carefully down the city street. His footsteps were silent as he stalked her from shadow to shadow. His frame melded into the darkness, cloaking him.

As he made his way through the city, he couldn’t help but wonder, why? Luke couldn’t understand why Sonya had sent him here to find her. His eyes glowed eerily as he watched Eurealia make her way over the hill. Why would Sonya be so invested on such a meek creature? Sure, his research of her background showed that she was not only just a model but highly educated in the art of alchemy and magic. Maybe, she had information on such topics that piqued his Empress’s curiosity. Whatever the case he hoped tonight would be fruitful so he may return home.

As he followed, he noticed that the city was growing far behind them, and the twinkling lights we’re almost none existent. The moon was just a mere wisp peeking ever so slightly from the clouds. His eyes explored his new surroundings, looking for whatever cover could aid him in his ventures. Eventually, he slowed his pace until her figure and frenzied heart beat was nothing  more than a murmur. Tracking her further would be no challenge to him. Her scent hung in the air, practically, giving him a map to her front door. Luke shook his head chiding her from a safe distance. He couldn’t help but think of her earlier statement and her naivety. If only she knew the type of monster who was roaming the streets of her city. Perhaps, Eurealia might be more cautious in her late night wanderings. He noticed how she fumbled around absentminded. He was amazed how this woman had gotten on so well in this world without a scratch? Luke thought to himself that maybe she wasn’t aware of such things. None  the less, he pushed his hand in his pockets and proceeded further into the night.

Bye the time Luke arrived at the bridge, he was cloaked fully by the eclipse of the moon. The clouds had fully taken over the night sky. Luke steadied himself, his breath, his heart, before taking another step. He told himself there would be no turning back after this point. Slowly, he closed his green eyes and when he re-opened them they were afire; a haunting vision to behold. Then, in that very moment he crossed the threshold between the earth and the bridge. His footfalls made no sound and his figure gave no hint of existence. Luke had merrily stepped into the shadows, vanishing from sight.

The Elf mage spent longer in the shower than she intended. Memories still swirled under the surface and it took a long time for her nerves to steady long enough for her to even consider the task of washing herself. Once stability came, however, she wasted little time cleaning the dirt of the day off and washing her long blonde hair. As she turned off the water, steam rose as she used her magic to dry herself and the shower. The air shimmered with the heat, the already misty bathroom growing foggier still thanks to her spell. Once dry, Eurealia emerged from the shower, grabbing her robe from a nearby hook on the wall and pulling it on. She walked over to a small round window as she cinched the garment, pushing it open to let the steam out. The cool night air caused her to shiver, goosebumps rising up on her arm where she had pushed the window open. All of the windows in the upper floor of the windmill were the same round shape and pivoted along the centre. A few times she had considered having larger windows installed but in the end she had decided to leave them.

She sighed as she looked out at the landscape around her. The lights of the town twinkled across the stream that separated her from them. Her golden eyes drifted down to the bridge where she thought she spotted movement but there was nothing there. Frowning, the mage supposed it was probably just an animal and returned her attention to the sky. She was disappointed to see that the clouds had gathered above and the stars were no longer visible. Even the moon was hidden now, the whole world growing dark. Her Elvish senses allowed her to still see most of what was around but there was little that she had not seen before.

Sighing quietly, Eurealia closed the window and walked over to the bathroom sink. She opened the cabinet, removing some potions she had made herself to help with the panic attacks as well as the various things she took to keep herself healthy. Once that was done, she went about her usual nightly bathroom routine before leaving to cross the short hallway to the bedroom. Her bedroom was small quarter circle with her double bed wedged into the only square corner. She kept a fairly sizeable wardrobe across from that with a vanity unit next to it. Finally, there was her smaller bookcase where she kept more personal books and those she was currently reading. She walked over to the window there, opening it a crack to let some fresh air in before removing her robe to put something on to sleep. Opening a chest of drawers, she removed a nightdress and stepped into the garment, pulling it up and sliding the thin straps into place. Once she was comfortable, she moved over to her vanity unit to spend some time brushing her hair out. With hair as long as her own, such a process was a lengthy one and she had gotten into the habit of propping up a book to read while she did so. Humming quietly to herself, she read her book cheerfully as she ran a brush through her long golden locks.
